Ari’s Innovation day reflection
Waaaaaaaaaaaay back in December (now February) we started working on our Innovation Day project by researching info from different websites for background info. Fast forward to about a week ago and we presented it in front of our parents and in front of 3 judges. The day/s of presenting were less stressful than we originally imagined and a lot funner (I know that isn’t a word but too bad for you I put it there anyway). Most of the judges and parents (aside from our parents) were friendly and supportive despite a few malfunction errors here and there. We also had a lot of trial and error whilst building our game building our board and finding our research. We did have a few “barriers” stopping us from completing our game or project early on: We couldn’t get the right circuit to make the game how we wanted it to, basically at one point it would beep and when the metal touched the wire it would stop. Our next problem was assembling the board in a neat way that looked good and could fit all of our slides. Those were all our main problems but there were some small ones like transporting the board and game to places in school and to home and back, which was very tricky.

Ari’s 3 meaningful mitzvot
This week in Mr.Washersteins’s class we were assigned to pick 3 mitzvot that we would like to talk about. Here are mine:
| Leviticus 19:18 teaches us about kindness, forgiveness, and treating others with respect. It says we should not seek revenge or grudges against others, even if they hurt us. Revenge often causes more harm, and staying angry can make us unhappy. Instead, we are encouraged to let go of negative feelings and practice forgiveness. The verse also reminds us to love others as we love ourselves, treating them with the same care, kindness, and fairness we would want.
This teaching is important because it promotes peace, helps build strong relationships, and creates a positive community. When we forgive and treat others kindly, we make the world a better place, starting with our schools, families, and neighborhoods. By following this guidance, we live according to God’s values and help spread love and understanding in our daily lives. |

| My 3 Mitzvot:21st Mitzvah: To affix the mezuzah to the doorposts and gates of your house.
110th Mitvah: Not to do work on Shabbat. 112th Mitvah: To celebrate the festivals [Passover, Shavu’ot and Sukkot]
“Inscribe them on the doorposts of your house and your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:9). |
וּכְתַבְתָּ֛ם עַל־מְזֻז֥וֹת בֵּיתֶ֖ךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃ {ס}
The mitzvah I have selected is “To affix the mezuzah to the doorposts and gates of your house”. The meaning of this mitzvah is to be reminded of our responsibilities as Jews. I think this mitzvah is important because it reminds us that our homes are holy places to us and G-d. This mitzvah can impact my life and the lives of others because the Mezuzah protects us and our homes when we are here or not.
but the seventh day is a sabbath of your God יהוה: you shall not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, or your cattle, or the stranger who is within your settlements.
The mitzvah I have selected is Not to do work on Shabbat. The meaning of this mitzvah is to rest and not do work because you are supposed to rest. I think this mitzvah is important because I don’t have to work on Friday (no homework)! This mitzvah can impact my life and the lives of others because less work = more Family time = better feelings.:):) (simple math)
Three times a year you shall hold a festival for Me:
שָׁלֹ֣שׁ רְגָלִ֔ים תָּחֹ֥ג לִ֖י בַּשָּׁנָֽה׃
The mitzvah I have selected is To celebrate the festivals [Passover, Shavu’ot and Sukkot]. The meaning of this mitzvah is. During the temple times, people would be happy on these 3 holidays: Passover, Shavu’ot and Sukkot. This is a mitzvah because G-d likes it when we give sacrifices and eat them to be happy. I think this mitzvah is important because the holidays the mitzvah talks about have a special name: pilgrimage and that just makes it special. This mitzvah can impact my life and the lives of others because being happy is always nice. 🙂

Ari’s Mishpacha blog post
Explanation:
This Mishpacha project is important for learning about our family, sharing our family history, and learning the Jewish life cycle.
What we were supposed to do:
We were supposed to make a slideshow about our family’s history and migration to Canada.
3 new things I learned while doing this project:
- I learned that I was Ashkenazi and that it existed
- I realized how small I was when I was a baby
- I learned that my name was chosen because of my appearance.
My Mishpacha slides:
One thing I would change about my project if I did it again:
One thing I would do to change about this project would be to add more images according to the slides but I didn’t think all the images I could put would fit.
So far we talked about a kid’s life with his grandparents and how much he loves them then one day he finds a key to a drawer that is forbidden to open. He finds the key to it and can’t resist opening it he is barely able to but succeeds. Before seeing it I think there was a ton of Holocaust stuff since this is a story about the holocaust after all.
Ari – Hebrew suggestions and comments maybe the last blog of hebrew grade 5?
Morah Marina told us to write a blog post reflecting on the year in Hebrew pros and cons and what the following students should have. In our opinion.
I only achieved some language skills. I also made some improvements in Hebrew synonyms.
Blogging did not help me improve at all but was a good way to learn for others.
I think there should be half as many blog times.
Grade 5 public speaking reflection – Ari
I think I did well in this speech. I presented how I practised and got better. By far I think I did better than last year! I might get a ruby medil! I noticed I was the only person with a persuasive speech or meant to be one. My friends did an amazing job as well! Who knows maybe there will be a four-way tie in first place! Some people were speaking really fast and unclear and others interrupted others. I could have added some other funny jokes but I didn’t because my speech was already long. I hope to be even better next year and so on. The research I put into this was pretty easy to get to but still needed to see if wasn’t the same sentence. Next time I plan on doing an informative speech on what I know and love. I hope I get a two year streak for first place or to be the top three.

midrash – ari number uknoun

Hello, I’m Dino Trainer 989 the other day we read a part of our parashah books and there was a gap so I’m guessing what to put in that gap. When I left they made a peace agreement and that’s what this is about. I guess that Laban wanted to go off on good terms so Yaakov would come back and work and that Hashem didn’t go after Laban for what he did. As for Yakov, Laban doesn’t return after him for some reason.
Geomitry – Ari
In science class today when we walked in there was geometry in big letters on the board and everybody thought of Geometry dash. The game and we were told to write something on what we knew. We were also allowed to search for things we did not know. So this is the report.
This is what I know about geometry, not the game. It has something to do with shapes and sizes and 3d stuff.
This is from the internet might be the same maybe a little different.
“a branch of mathematics deals with the measurement, properties, and relationships of points, lines, angles, surfaces, and solids.”
So half the same half different.
